Match Report Vs Morebath (11/04/2021)

Nomansland Cricket Club’s first ever match took place yesterday and what a match it was. With sun, snow and the first exercise in a long time for a lot of players, it was a day to remember.

Morebath won the toss and put Nomansland into bat, a strong opening partnership from Colin Tucker (54*) and Ben Fitzherbert (20) put us in good stead. Greg Cole (31*) also performed well with bat in hand. A flurry of runs at the end of the innings put Nomansland’s total to 137.

Elliot Cole and Ben Fitzherbert opened up the bowling with Elliot taking 2 wickets in the first over, a good start. Some tight bowling from all the whole bowling attack meant that Morebath were suddenly in a tight spot nearing the end of the innings. With 1 wicket in hand, Morebath required 4 runs to win, a well played drive sent the ball to the boundary and won the match for the opposition but it was an enjoyable start to the season nonetheless.

Some notable mentions must go to Freddie Barlow, Theo Pratt and Will Hughes for making their club debuts with some excellent performances, especially Freddie with the ball in hand. Secondly, the weather must get a shoutout for blizzard-like conditions half way through the match!

We are looking forward to our next match!
